Meet Tonka! He's a big, goofy, and utterly lovable Akita with a personality as vast as his affection. Tonka absolutely adores his walks, gets excited about frozen Kongs and puzzle toys, and is always ready for a squeaky toy adventure. He's a master of enthusiastic kisses when he's happy and is diligently learning his manners every day.

Ideal Home

Tonka is looking for an experienced Akita enthusiast who understands the breed's unique traits and needs. A securely fenced yard and an active family would be perfect for him to stretch his legs and enjoy supervised outdoor fun. Due to a strong prey drive that makes him very interested in squirrels and cats, he may be happiest as the only pet in the home. Careful and slow introductions are a must for any potential pet siblings.

Ongoing Health

Tonka is up-to-date on all vaccinations and preventative care. He has received a health exam and a certificate will be issued by a veterinarian within 10 days of adoption.

Training & Support

Building trust and maintaining clear boundaries are key to Tonka's success. His adopter should be committed to continuing his training to help him thrive.

Transporation

Tonka is currently being fostered in Texas but is available for transport to an approved adopter. The adoption contract and fee are finalized prior to transport. Video calls will be used for adoption interviews and meet-and-greets.
