About Hardy

Meet Hardy! Hardy is about 65 pounds of tall, handsome, goofy sweetness. We estimate him to be around 3–4 years old, and let us tell you… this boy is SUPER cute. Unfortunately, no one has come forward to claim him. Hardy came in wearing a collar and it’s very clear that at some point, this dog knew what it was like to be in a home. When Hardy first arrived, we had him in one of our outside kennels. He refused to use the bathroom in his kennel and would wait until someone leashed him up and took him for a walk. Now that he’s inside on the adoption floor in a bigger kennel, he’ll bark and bark trying desperately to get our attention because he wants to go outside to potty. That tells us this boy is very likely housebroken and trying so hard to do the right thing. And honestly… that just breaks our hearts Because someone put some time into him and potty trained him. Hardy walks really well on a leash and seems happiest when he’s outside stretching his legs or hanging out in one of the outdoor play areas. He’s sweet, eager for attention, and seems very thankful for any little bit of time he gets with our volunteers. We are recommending older respectful children simply because Hardy is a tall guy who still needs a few manners worked on. He gets excited and may jump up at times, and we never want to set a dog up for failure or risk knocking over little kiddos. With consistency, structure, and love, we think Hardy is going to make someone an amazing companion. He doesn’t seem to mind other dogs, although a resident dog meet would be required to make sure everyone gets along. He has not yet been cat tested. Please help us find Hardy the second chance he deserves. Shelter life is stressful, loud, and confusing, especially for dogs who clearly once had a home. We would love nothing more than to see this handsome boy back where he belongs… curled up in a home of his own.
