Meet Norman!

Norman is a 4.5-year-old, 73-pound Labrador Retriever/American Pitbull Terrier mix with a heart as big as his frame and charming, tortilla chip-shaped ears. He's affectionately known as the "velvet hippo" and is a gentle, goofy soul who adores cuddles, comfy dog beds, and spending quality time with his people. Norman is a classic couch potato with a silly streak, often flopping onto his back for an adorable grin. He loves walks, training games, and belly rubs, and truly shines with love and structure. His routine is flexible, and he's content as long as he has someone to nap near and a little mental stimulation each day.

Ideal Home

Norman would thrive in a calm, structured environment with a secure, fenced yard. He needs an experienced guardian who understands his needs and can provide continued guidance. He does best with older, respectful children and some dogs, provided slow introductions are made. He is not suitable for a home with small children.

Training & Support

Norman is crate trained, house-trained, and knows several commands including "sit," "stay," "down," and "place," and is currently mastering "leave it." He responds well to positive reinforcement and consistency. His adoption includes four professional training sessions and a full month of behavioral guidance from a consultant to aid in a smooth transition. Norman has shown reactivity in certain situations outside the home and needs continued guidance and careful introductions to new people and dogs. While he had a past bite incident, it's described as an accident in a specific circumstance.
