Dagger is a playful and affectionate 6.5-month-old Retriever/Pit Bull mix, weighing 40 pounds and expected to be a large dog when fully grown. She was rescued with her mother and siblings from a rural dumping area and has since grown up in a loving foster home. Dagger has a distinct dagger-shaped marking on her neck, which, along with her past "shark-puppy" teeth, inspired her name. Now past the tiny puppy stage, she's a confident, affectionate, and well-rounded dog who is potty trained and loves to cuddle. She's also an energetic explorer who enjoys testing boundaries and needs a family prepared for her escape-artist tendencies. Dagger is friendly with strangers and other dogs, and has done well with children.
Ideal Home
We are looking for a family committed to reinforcing good manners, building Dagger's confidence, and helping her mature into an exceptional adult dog. A home with an existing friendly, well-mannered dog is preferred to help mentor her. If you don't currently have a dog, we'd love to hear your plan for continued socialization, which could include training classes, playdates, or supervised daycare. Because Dagger is still young, we prefer homes where someone is not routinely away for more than four to six hours at a time.
Ongoing Health
Dagger is spayed and up-to-date on vaccinations. No specific health conditions are noted in her description.
Training & Support
Dagger is potty trained but is still an adolescent and learning about the world. Ongoing positive reinforcement, consistency, and continued leash practice will help her thrive. Continued socialization with new people, places, sounds, and friendly dogs is crucial for building lifelong confidence.
