Meet Toffee, a sweet senior soul who just wants to be loved!
Toffee's story is one of resilience, kindness, and hope. This sweet 8-9 year old boy was found alone on an entrance ramp to the highway. A good Samaritan stopped to help him and was able to get him safely into her car. When she brought him to us, Toffee was trembling in the back seat, scared, confused, and unsure of what was happening. The moment we met him, we knew he was special. Toffee arrived severely underweight, with raw spots on his paws, scratches, and scars on his face. Despite everything he had been through, he had nothing but love to give. His little wagon-wheel tail never stops moving, and within just days he showed us that he finally knew he was safe. Toffee has been through a lot medically, but he continues to be the sweetest, most grateful boy. He loves his people and will happily follow you wherever you go. He loves pets, attention, and soaking up every bit of affection he can get. He is wonderful on leash and has quickly become a volunteer favorite. After everything he has endured, all Toffee wants is a safe place, a loving family, and someone who will show him that his best days are still ahead.
Ideal Home
Toffee would love a safe place and a loving family. We cannot adopt to homes with invisible fences.
Ongoing Health
Toffee recently spent time at the emergency vet after becoming very sick with bloody diarrhea. During his visit, they discovered a possible tumor on his testicles. He also has a heart murmur and is being followed by cardiology. He has severe dental disease and is scheduled for a neuter (which we are hopeful will take care of the possible cancer) and dental procedure in July. We are hopeful these treatments will give him the comfort and care he deserves. He is currently on a prescription diet that he will remain on for the foreseeable future. We are still trying to put weight on him. He has been closely followed by our vet. All of our animals are spayed/neutered and current on shots.
Training & Support
We are still learning how Toffee feels about other dogs and are taking introductions slowly.

- Applications start by contacting us through Wags.
- You must be 21 years or older to adopt.
- We do not do same-day adoptions. You will be asked to return for at least one follow-up visit, then take the dog home for a trial period before officially adopting.
- We do request vet and personal references.
Transporation
Toffee is located at our Cincinnati-based shelter. We can facilitate adoptions within a 30-mile radius of our shelter.
