Rita/Maggie May

Maggie May, formerly known as Mama Rita, is a sweet and calm adult female German Shepherd/Husky mix who is looking for her forever home. She and her eight puppies were rescued from a high-kill shelter in California. After her puppies found loving homes, Maggie May was adopted but sadly returned because her previous family was unaware of her tendency to prey on chickens. Despite this, Maggie May is incredibly affectionate and loves to be close to her people, showering them with kisses. She walks well on a leash and is highly food-motivated, making her eager to learn. She already knows "no" and "come" and is a quick learner, so she'll pick up more commands easily. Maggie May can be a bit shy at first, but once she trusts you, she becomes exceptionally loving. She is great with kids, adults, cats, and dogs, but she should not be placed in a home with chickens.

Ideal Home

Maggie May would thrive in a home where she can be close to her family. She is not suited for a home with chickens.

Training & Support

Maggie May is a quick learner and knows basic commands like "no" and "come." She is food-motivated and will easily learn more commands with consistent positive reinforcement.
