Wiley is a handsome 1-year-old, 45lb Black and White Border Collie mix with a rough coat. He's a sweet boy who has made incredible progress in his foster home and is ready to find his forever family. Wiley came to us quite shut down, understandably so, given his past. He was very fearful but never showed any aggression. Now, his foster parents see "joy in his life!" He's mostly calm but will wag his tail and engage in his own unique way with the other dogs in the house. He shows some interest in toys and is beginning recall training, which is a testament to his growing confidence in his surroundings.
Ideal Home
Wiley would do best in a calm environment with a patient owner who understands he needs time and space to build trust. He prefers not to 'meet' people directly and observes before acting. Due to signs of past abuse, his new home MUST NOT use an e-fence or any type of e-collar. He is a flight risk, so a securely fenced yard is required, or a commitment to always use a leash or long line when he is outside. He would likely be happiest with a canine friend or two, as he previously lived with multiple dogs and currently enjoys his foster siblings. He seems to prefer to avoid children and frequent visitors.

Training & Support
Wiley is house-trained and mostly ignores the cats. He can be a bit playful with them but would likely be happier with dog companions. He enjoys hiking on a leash or long line and is comfortable riding in the truck cab. He crates well in the house but has shown excessive drooling when crated in the car. Brushing his coat can be a wonderful bonding opportunity, and he enjoys it in short sessions. He is not ready for classes or meet-ups where he's required to interact with people.
