Meet Axel Rose, a handsome Basenji/Terrier mix who weighs 26lbs and has an estimated birthday of April 5, 2024. He's the perfect size for adventures, cuddles, and everything in between! Axel is a friendly boy who loves other dogs of all sizes and enjoys making new canine friends. When it comes to people, Axel has a unique way of introducing himself. He likes to talk and will happily let you know he'd love some attention. Once you walk over and say hello, his barks quickly turn into tail wags and affection. He simply wants to be noticed and loved. Axel is potty trained and does well inside the home. One of his favorite activities is relaxing on the couch while watching the world go by through the window. Don't let his laid-back side fool you though; he also loves running zoomies in the backyard and stretching his legs outdoors. Axel's story began when he was discovered abandoned inside an empty apartment. Thankfully, a compassionate foster stepped up and gave him a second chance at life. Despite being left behind, Axel remains incredibly loving, trusting, and ready to find a family who will never leave him again. We don't yet know how Axel feels about cats, but he can be kitty-tested for interested adopters. Axel enjoys relaxing indoors and playing outdoors. He would benefit from a family willing to help him continue building confidence on walks.

Axel is fully vaccinated, microchipped, and neutered.
Training & Support
Axel is kennel and potty trained. He is still working on his leash manners and would benefit from continued training. Adopters are eligible to receive discounted training with Curbed Behaviors Dog Training for programs booked within 30-90 days of adoption.

Transportation
Axel is located in Houston, TX, and transport is included in the adoption fee. Pickup locations may vary, including to nearby towns or states. We coordinate with multiple transport services that operate weekly to Eastern states and bi-weekly or monthly to Western states from Texas. You will be able to track the van using the Life360 app and receive updates during transport.
