Meet Tonka, a big, goofy, and incredibly lovable Akita with a personality as large as his heart! Born in February 2026, Tonka is full of affection and always eager to share his enthusiasm, especially when he's excited. He enjoys a good walk, the challenge of a frozen Kong or puzzle toy, and any activity that keeps his bright mind engaged. He's a quick learner and is diligently working on his manners every day.
Ideal Home
Tonka is seeking an experienced and breed-savvy adopter who truly understands the unique characteristics and needs of Akitas. A securely fenced yard is a must, providing him with a safe space to stretch his legs and enjoy supervised outdoor time. He has a strong prey drive and shows a keen interest in squirrels and cats, so careful introductions to other pets are essential. He may be happiest as the sole canine companion in the home, and any introductions to other dogs should be approached slowly and thoughtfully.
Ongoing Health
Tonka is up-to-date on all vaccinations and has been dewormed. He has received a fecal analysis and is current on flea and heartworm prevention. A health exam will be completed by a veterinarian.
Training & Support
Tonka's ideal family will appreciate his wonderfully goofy spirit and be committed to continuing his training. Building trust and consistently maintaining clear boundaries are key to helping Tonka succeed and thrive.
