About Annie

Annie is a sweet, spunky 3-4 month old Shih Tzu and poodle mix pup, weighing 7 lbs and expected to be around 20 lbs when fully grown. She's an affectionate and loving pup who adores attention. Annie is curious and confident, always eager to investigate new things, and thrives on exploring the world. She's a social butterfly who loves meeting new people and canine friends, making her a perfect companion for an active family. Her laid-back nature allows her to adapt easily to different environments and she enjoys family adventures, always happy as long as she's with her humans. Whether playing with other dogs, cuddling, or enjoying her toys, Annie has a good time. She can be active and playful, but also knows how to relax on the couch. Annie is also great at entertaining herself, happily playing with her toys or napping. She would fit beautifully into a variety of homes, whether an active family that enjoys the outdoors or a family that prefers cozy evenings at home. As long as she's with the people she loves, Annie is content and ready for anything.

Ideal Home

Annie has medium energy with short bursts of puppy playfulness, which are easily managed with brief exercise. She loves mental stimulation games with treats, exploring the yard, and playing with her toys. She also enjoys playing with other dogs. Annie would love a home with a toy box full of various toys, and would be thrilled with new surprises to help with teething. As she masters leash skills, she'll be excited for neighborhood walks and longer nature trails, hikes, or strolls through town.

Annie is dog, cat, and kid-friendly. She enjoys playing with other dogs, and would be a wonderful addition to a home with another playful dog or thrive as the center of attention. If she is the only dog, she would benefit from frequent playdates or doggy daycare. She has learned proper dog communication skills but may be too much for a senior dog not used to puppy energy. Annie would do well with children of all ages, especially older children experienced with smaller breeds who know how to handle her gently, as she can be wiggly when excited. Her humans will need to watch her to ensure she doesn't chew on human toys, as she is teething. She is friendly towards cats and would do well in a home with a cat comfortable around dogs, preferably one who has lived with dogs before. She would do best with dog-friendly cats as she is a puppy and will want to play with them. Annie would love a home with a fenced yard for exercise and exploration. Public dog parks are not recommended for Annie. She would enjoy outings around town or visiting Sniff Spots.

Training & Support

Annie is kennel trained and potty trained, and has started on leash training. She sleeps in her kennel at night without issue and naps there during the day with the door open. She enjoys outings in her doggy pouch but will need additional practice to perfect her leash walking skills. She alerts her foster family when she needs to go outside by circling at the back door. Using a doggy doorbell is recommended to help her learn to notify you when she needs to go out. She needs a consistent schedule and to be taken out every few hours initially, but she adjusts quickly to new routines. Annie would love a family that is home more often than not, or someone with a hybrid or work-from-home schedule. If her humans work out of the home, a dog walker mid-day or doggy daycare is recommended.
