Junior Bear looks like a wonderful mix of a wise old grandpa, a fluffy polar bear cub, and Sid from Ice Age – and it totally works! He came to us in pretty rough shape, looking more like a naked mole rat than the handsome Great Pyrenees mix he's becoming. Watching his coat grow back and seeing his confidence blossom has been a truly special journey. With his perpetually expressive face, that adorable little tongue that always seems to be sharing important thoughts, and his gentle, shy nature, Junior Bear is the kind of dog that quietly steals your heart. Prepare to fall in love with his uniquely hilarious and endearing old-man face – he’s truly one of a kind!
Ideal Home
Junior Bear would do best in a home with patient and understanding individuals who are willing to let him warm up at his own pace. He thrives on calm energy and gentle introductions, and while he's dog-friendly and has done well with small dogs, he'd likely do best with other lower to medium-energy, respectful dogs who will give him space. He also had a positive and respectful interaction with a cat and a sleepover can be arranged to test this further. A home with access to a small yard would be beneficial for him to build confidence.
Ongoing Health
Junior Bear is a rescue dog, and while we believe him to be a Great Pyrenees/Lab mix around 6 years old and weighing approximately 50 lbs, we cannot guarantee breed or age. He is up to date on all vetting.
Training & Support
Junior Bear is crate trained and quiet in the home. He walks well on leash but can freeze if he feels too much pressure; he does best when allowed to lead a bit and with less leash pressure. He is a "slow burn" with new people and environments, needing time to observe and feel safe before opening up. Gentle baby talk, soft voices, and allowing him to approach on his own terms are key to building trust. Once he warms up, he becomes affectionate and cuddly.
