Lucy is a 6-year-old, 8-pound Chihuahua mix who came from a difficult hoarding situation, which taught her early on that being quiet and invisible was the safest way to exist. She learned to move softly, stay small, and hide when the world feels too big. Lucy is not the kind of dog who rushes toward affection; instead, she watches from a safe spot, taking everything in and deciding slowly. Trust is something she gives in tiny, precious pieces, but what makes Lucy special is that she wants to be brave. She will never be the loudest, boldest, or most outgoing dog, but she will be one of the most meaningful loves you've ever earned.
Ideal Home
Lucy is most comfortable in a calm, quiet home with a gentle, patient person. She would do best with another confident dog who can show her the way and needs a securely fenced yard as she's not fully used to leashes. She needs predictable routines, soft voices, and time. She should not be placed in a home with young children, as she needs tenderness and slow movements.
Ongoing Health
Lucy is spayed, up-to-date on vaccinations, microchipped, dewormed, heartworm checked, and on flea/tick and heartworm preventatives.
Training & Support
Lucy is learning to be brave and needs a patient adopter to help her build confidence. Her bravery will come in quiet milestones, such as choosing to nap near you, taking a treat from your hand, or deciding she feels safe enough to stay instead of hide.
