Elissa is a 3-4 year old, 30 lb bundle of shy affection waiting to find her forever home. Her DNA reveals a unique mix of Pit Bull, Poodle, Dalmatian, Cocker Spaniel, and "Supermutt." Elissa was found alone in an empty lot and is slowly learning to trust again after a year and a half in rescue. She's a project dog who chooses her people deliberately and quietly, offering a deep and meaningful love once she feels safe. She's made great progress, enjoying playtime with other dogs and chewing on bones, but still carries the weight of her past experiences and is shy around new people.
Ideal Home
Elissa needs a calm, adult-only home with very low foot traffic and a predictable environment. She is not a good fit for homes with children, busy households, or apartments. She requires a securely fenced backyard as she is very scared of leash walking and is not used to being touched or carried.
Ongoing Health
No specific health conditions are mentioned beyond general rescue care. She has received spay/neuter surgery, core vaccines, flea/tick/heartworm treatment, deworming, blood work, and health tests.
Training & Support
Elissa is not yet 100% housebroken and will need consistent training to adjust. She is not leash trained and is very scared of leash walking. She is also not used to being touched or carried and will need her boundaries respected. She is a project dog who is nervous and timid, and will hide if approached too quickly. She needs an adopter who understands her needs and can provide deep, unhurried, unshakeable patience.
