Introducing Grover Chillington!
Grover's journey began at a high-kill shelter in Houston. He was tragically placed on the euthanasia list after only a few weeks, but thankfully, a wonderful foster family stepped in to save him. Now, Grover is proving to be pure perfection!
Grover embodies the meaning of chill. Initially, the shelter guessed his age at 6 years old, but after multiple vet assessments, it's estimated he's likely between 2-3 years old, and definitely no older than 3. Weighing in at around 48 pounds, he's the ideal medium size. He's truly a good boy with an old soul.
This sweet boy loves spending time with his people and thrives when he can be part of the action. Whether he's lounging in the backyard, accompanying you on a neighborhood stroll, or claiming the coziest spot in the house for a nap, Grover is content. He enjoys exploring the outdoors but isn't a high-energy athlete. A few daily walks and quality time with his family are all he needs to be happy. His foster family lives on a farm, and even with free rein of the property, Grover never strays far from his foster dad. He's just as well-behaved off-leash as he is on.
He is fully house-trained and has excellent house manners. Grover settles nicely indoors, gets along with everyone he meets, is not destructive, and appreciates a comfy bed after a day of adventures. His ideal forever home would offer plenty of love, a soft place to sleep, and people who enjoy having a devoted canine companion by their side. He can be a little shy at first, but within minutes, he's rolling over for belly rubs.
Grover has done well with other dogs, farm animals, and enjoys making new friends. He has a gentle, friendly nature and quickly wins over people and animals with his charming personality. While we suspect he might be a hound/cattle dog mix, his breed is a mystery! He's not a big barker and has a lower energy level, making him a truly unique find if those are indeed his breeds.
Grover is currently finishing up heartworm treatment and will be ready to travel to his forever home in July. He is truly the easiest, most loving guy around. Whoever adopts him will be hitting the rescue dog jackpot – he is impossible not to love!
