About Annie

Annie is a sweet, spunky Shih Tzu and Poodle mix, weighing 7 lbs at 3-4 months old. She's affectionate, curious, and loves to explore. Annie is a social butterfly who enjoys meeting new people and dogs, making her a great companion for an active family. She's happy as long as she's with her humans, whether playing, cuddling, or entertaining herself with toys. Annie has a perfect balance of playful energy and laid-back cuddles, making her adaptable to various home environments. She's described as medium energy, with short bursts of puppy exuberance quickly satisfied by play and exercise.

Ideal Home

Annie would thrive in a home with a fenced yard for running and playing, and she would love a toy box full of various toys. She'd be delighted with a BarkBox subscription to keep her entertained, especially as she's starting to teethe. She'd enjoy joining her humans for walks and exploring new places like nature trails or strolling through town. Annie would love a family that works from home or has a hybrid schedule, but she can also do well with a dog walker or doggy daycare if her humans work outside the home. She is dog, cat, and kid-friendly. She would benefit from having a playful, friendly dog in the home, but could also thrive as the "only child" if she receives plenty of attention. If she is the only dog, frequent playdates or doggy daycare are recommended. She would do well with children of all ages, especially older children experienced with smaller breeds who know how to handle her gently, as she can be wiggly when excited. She is good with cats that are comfortable around dogs and have prior experience living with them. Public dog parks are not recommended due to the risk of illness or negative interactions.

Ongoing Health

Annie is up-to-date on all age-appropriate vaccinations, microchipped, and on flea/tick/heartworm prevention. She has received a health certificate from a licensed veterinarian and any necessary veterinary care while in rescue.

Training & Support

Annie is kennel trained and potty trained, and has started leash training. She sleeps in her kennel at night and is comfortable napping in it during the day. She will need continued practice to perfect her leash walking skills. She alerts her foster family when she needs to go outside by circling at the back door, and a doggy doorbell is recommended to help her learn this communication. A consistent schedule is important initially, and she is a quick learner. She is starting to teeth, so her new family will need to ensure she doesn't chew on inappropriate items.
