Meet Darlin! This sweet girl's name was given to her by a kind soul who spent over two months in a field trying to earn her trust. We're not sure how she ended up there, but she was initially wary of people and vehicles. Each evening, the volunteer would arrive, and Darlin would joyfully run up, tail wagging, earning the affectionate greeting, "Hey Darlin'!" Eventually, she was gently secured with a slip lead and brought home. Though a bit nervous during the car ride, she sought reassurance from her new companion. Once home, Darlin immediately engaged with a toy, then explored the yard with a happy wag. Introductions to the resident dogs went smoothly, and she even sniffed the resident cat with curiosity before settling in for belly rubs. Darlin is a patient girl, waiting for her turn during mealtime. She has been accident-free in the house and has proven to be a perfect guest during multiple weekend visits and even a large party with over 50 people. When she feels uncertain, Darlin looks to her person for guidance and support. She already understands "off," "sit," and "wait," and is eager to learn anything that will please her people. In short, Darlin is dog-friendly, shows interest in cats (introductions and supervision will be needed for a few months as she wants to play, not out of aggression), is not food aggressive, is easily trainable, loving, and social. She's also great at entertaining herself with toys. Darlin needs an active family who will include her in their adventures, but she's also content to relax at home during the week. Her greatest desire is to be with her people, whether for playtime or a cozy snuggle. And we have a feeling she'd absolutely rock a pink tutu!
