Meet Phelps! This energetic 2-year-old cattle dog is ready for his next big adventure and is looking for a home that can keep up with his boundless enthusiasm! Phelps is a friendly and neutered male with a great temperament. While he has plenty of zest for life, he also knows how to settle down after a good mental and physical workout.
Phelps is house-trained and kennel-trained, and he's a social butterfly who loves people, including strangers. He's also dog-friendly, though he's still mastering polite introductions and reading other dogs' cues. He's lived with cats and chickens. With continued work on his impulse control, he could live with cats, and he's comfortable around chickens, though he's still supervised when they're around.
Ideal Home
Phelps would thrive in a home that is very active and can provide daily mental stimulation. He'd do best away from busy city life, as he can get overstimulated by fast and loud vehicles, and would not do well living close to busy roads. He would likely do better with older children due to his busy nature. A home prepared for a driven and intelligent cattle dog is essential!

Phelps is fully vetted. He tolerates baths well and is okay with nail trims, with plenty of breaks and treats.
Training & Support
Phelps is a quick learner and knows commands like sit, down, place, kennel, and "enough" (meaning to stop playing or what he's doing). He waits at doors and gates. He's making great progress on leash walking and has a decent recall. He's highly motivated by food and toys, and enjoys tug, frisbee, and fetch. While there are no signs of resource guarding, precautions are taken with food and toys when other dogs are present. He needs continued training for leash manners and polite dog introductions.
