Sammy is a sweet man with an introverted demeanor who would do best in a house with other dogs. He has exhibited strong separation anxiety in his past home, but has been successfully left for hours at a time in his foster home without being kenneled. Sammy seems to do great having dog companions to make him feel safe and curb that anxiety. He is house-trained but may mark in new environments, and a belly band was used when unsupervised or overnight in foster care. If using a belly band, it's important to change it when soiled and allow breaks to avoid UTIs. Sammy is completely fine in a home with cats, but if his dog friends chase the cats, he will too. He enjoys pets and sharing your bed, and gets excited when his people come home. Sammy knows his name and comes when called. He walks well on a leash and can be off-leash in safe environments once trust is built. He does well in the car and with baths. Sammy is not overly active and prefers to lounge and nap most of the day. He does not play with toys, though he has shown some interest. The best chance for Sammy to thrive is in a home with company, whether that means doggy friends, a retired person, or someone who works from home and enjoys adventures together. Sammy just wants to be a part of your life.
