Meet Johnny, a charming approximately 1-year-old Pit Bull who is eager to explore the world with you! Johnny is a breeze on leash and incredibly motivated by treats, making him a joy to train. He's also very tolerant of handling, which is great for grooming and vet visits. Once he's out and about, Johnny becomes very curious about his surroundings and loves to investigate everything.
While Johnny is a wonderful boy, he does show some signs of kennel stress, like vocalizing and pacing. He can get a bit too excited around other dogs, especially when there's a barrier, but with guidance, he's usually easy to redirect. Johnny can also be sensitive to loud noises and sudden movements, sometimes flinching or trying to move away if he feels cornered. He thrives with calm and patient handling and has done well with vet procedures when he's allowed to go at his own pace.
During dog introductions, Johnny can initially be a bit overzealous. However, he has shown great potential, successfully playing and accepting gentle corrections from a younger female dog. He's already demonstrating appropriate social skills and would benefit from continued training and thoughtful introductions as he matures.
Ideal Home
Johnny would love a home where he can explore and have plenty of enrichment. He responds best to calm and patient handling and may do best in a home that understands his sensitivities to sudden noises and pressure.
Ongoing Health
Johnny is generally healthy. He has tolerated veterinary procedures well when allowed to proceed at his own pace.
Training & Support
Johnny is highly treat-motivated and easy to leash, making training enjoyable. He would benefit from continued leash work and thoughtful introductions to other dogs. He may need support in managing excitement around other dogs, especially through barriers, and help with his sensitivity to sudden noises and handling pressure.
