Lucie is a charming, snuggly lovebug of a lady looking for her forever home! This 7-year-old female Boxer/Shepard mix is larger than 45 lbs and was originally rescued from a high-kill shelter. She was quickly adopted but sadly, after 5 wonderful years, her previous human could no longer care for her. Now, Lucie is back and ready to shower her new family with affection and express her love with kisses and a full tail wag. She has an incredibly expressive face and a gentle nature, making her a truly doting companion. Lucie is housebroken and crate-trained, and has experience with doggy playgroups. She has also done well with cats, though she has a bit too much interest in smaller critters like bunnies. She's easy to manage on walks and will periodically check in with you. Lucie knows "sit," "down," and gives a wonderful "paw." Her trainer notes that Lucie is intelligent, expressive, and wants to be with her people. She likes to play with toys but needs supervision as she can be a bit possessive, though she'll happily trade for a treat! Lucie adores food, and while she needs to shed a few pounds, her love for treats makes training a breeze.
Ideal Home
Lucie would likely do well in a home with older children and potentially a doggy companion. Due to her high prey drive, she should not be placed in a home with small critters like bunnies or cats.
Ongoing Health
Lucie is a senior dog and needs to be mindful of her food intake to help her shed some extra pounds.
