My name is Athena, and just like the Greek Goddess, I'm a strong and loving companion! I'm about 5 years old and had a bit of a rough start, which made me a little unsure of people at first. But I'm a super fast learner and have been working hard to build trust. I walk like a dream on a leash, and the staff and volunteers here adore me! I'm also training for the canine Olympics, specifically the high jump – I can leap 6 feet in the air continuously, so you'll have to see it to believe it!
I do get along with some dogs, but not all, so I'd need to meet your dog before we finalize anything. Treats are my love language, and I'm especially fond of string cheese! Despite my past, I'm a huge cuddle bug once I feel comfortable. I am still a bit unsure about men, as I've had some difficult experiences in my life. This means you'd need to visit me a few times to let me warm up to you at my own pace. I've been here for a while and am truly ready to find my forever best friend. If you think you might be the one, come on in and ask for me – you won't miss me, I'll be the girl jumping! (P.S. I only jump when I'm in my kennel.)
Ideal Home
A home where I can continue to build trust and receive plenty of love and positive reinforcement. I need a patient adopter who is willing to meet me multiple times before adoption, especially if you are a man. I need to meet your dog to ensure we are a good match.
Ongoing Health
All necessary vaccinations (DHPP and Bordetella), microchip, and a current year dog license are included. I will also receive a certificate for spaying, and the shelter will cover the cost.
Training & Support
I walk well on a leash. I am still working on my trust, especially around men, and need a patient adopter. I can be a bit of a jumper when I'm excited in my kennel.
