Lazaro

Lázaro is a gentle and calm 6-7 year old, 19 lb Schnauzer mix with a quiet presence. He sleeps comfortably in an open crate and can be left for short periods without issue. Lázaro is a social butterfly who gets along well with other dogs, children, men, and women. He even coexists peacefully with chickens and roosters! While he enjoys affection, he's not overly clingy, preferring to be an independent, low-key companion. He enjoys walks and is non-aggressive, though he might bark a bit to seem like the "boss"—it's all talk! Lázaro was abandoned because he was considered "old" and "different," but he is living proof that true beauty comes from the heart. He's ready for a family who will appreciate his resilience and quiet loyalty. Please note that our rescued dogs may require an adjustment period, and patience and understanding are crucial.

Ideal Home

Lázaro would thrive in a home with a fenced backyard and an active family that enjoys outdoor activities. He needs a family with a real intention to rescue, understanding the needs of street animals and willing to provide protection and education. Experience with dog behavior and training is preferred, or a willingness to hire a trainer. High tolerance and patience for a rescued dog are a must, as he is not house-trained.

Ongoing Health

Lázaro is healthy and pain-free despite having a small, non-vision eye due to a congenital condition and missing a few teeth. These differences do not limit him. He has received a spay/neuter certificate, DHPPI and rabies vaccines, Bordetella vaccine, is dewormed, microchipped, has a negative 4DX test and heartworm test, and is on monthly preventive protection (Nexgard Spectra). A health certificate and vaccine booklet are included.

Training & Support

Lázaro can be a bit protective of his food, so basic boundaries during feeding time are recommended. He is not house-trained, and adopters should be prepared for this. Patience and understanding are key for any rescued dog as they adjust to a new environment.

• If approved, you'll sign the adoption contract and pay the adoption fee, which helps cover vet care, spay/neuter, vaccines, microchip, and food.

Transporation

Lázaro is currently fostered in Saltillo, Mexico, and is ready to travel to the East Coast on a cross-country trip if adopted. A one-time transport fee of $400 USD covers door-to-door delivery. Transportation is carefully planned with scheduled trips (3-4 times per year with a minimum of 15-20 adoptions per trip) using a contracted transport company. Pets will travel with all necessary legal documents, including a Transport Contract and Health Certificate from the USDA. Real-time updates will be provided through a private Facebook Messenger group, and the transport team will conduct a final home review upon delivery.
