About Monika

Monika is a charming female Labrador mix, about a year old and weighing around 26 lbs. She was rescued from the streets of Saltillo, Mexico, in March 2024, along with her mother and siblings. Initially fearful, Monika and her family have blossomed with love, patience, and affection, revealing their playful, funny, and food-loving personalities. She is crate-trained and is doing well socializing with other dogs and people. Monika can be a bit shy, reserved, and cautious at first, needing a patient and loving approach to build trust. She is a very noble and submissive girl.

Ideal Home

Monika would thrive in a home that is willing to give her at least three months to show her best personality. An active family that enjoys daily walks or hiking would be ideal. She needs a home with a fenced backyard and a family with an open mind and understanding of the needs of rescued street animals, including their potential need for protection and education. Experience with dog behavior and training is beneficial, and a high tolerance and patience for a rescued puppy are essential.

Ongoing Health

Monika has completed a comprehensive health protocol, including being spayed, vaccinated (DHPPI, Rabies, Bordetella), dewormed, and tested for various conditions. She has a negative heartworm test and is on monthly Nexgard Spectra preventative for fleas, ticks, and heartworm. A health certificate and vaccination booklet are available.

Training & Support

Monika is not yet house-trained, and this will require dedicated effort from her new family. It's important to understand that due to the number of animals needing rescue and rehabilitation, individual house-training for each pet is not always feasible. Your patience and consistent training will be key to her success in this area.
