Dahlia is an 11-month-old "itty bitty labbie pittie" who is as delicate and beautiful as her namesake flower, and oh-so-sweet! She currently weighs around 35 pounds and is expected to be between 40-45 pounds when fully grown. Dahlia is a joy to be around, starting her day with enthusiasm for potty breaks and zoomies before heading out for a brisk walk. She's a near-perfect leash walker, though squirrels can sometimes catch her attention! Dahlia loves exploring trails and parks, making friends with everyone she meets. While she can be a bit shy with new people, she warms up quickly and is incredibly sweet. She's a natural adventurer and would make a wonderful camping companion, especially if there's a creek or river to splash in!
During the workday, Dahlia is a model companion, snoozing comfortably by her foster mom's side and enjoying play breaks with the four other dogs in the home. She gets along wonderfully with small and large dogs alike, though smaller dogs in the home should be able to set boundaries. Dahlia's favorite pastimes include chasing pinecones and carrying around big sticks.
Ideal Home
Dahlia would be happiest in a home with another playful dog or with opportunities for regular doggy daycare, as she thrives on canine companionship. She is a dog-social girl who loves the company of other dogs. While she could adapt to apartment living with plenty of exercise, her tendency to cry in her crate when left alone might be a consideration for homes with shared walls. She has not been tested with cats or children but is thought to do well with respectful children 8 and up.
Ongoing Health
Dahlia is up-to-date on all vetting, including DAPP with booster, Bordetella, Rabies vaccine, multiple broad-spectrum deworming treatments, flea prevention, and a 12-month heartworm preventative injectable. She has also been heartworm tested.
Training & Support
Dahlia is crate and house trained. She will cry in her crate when initially left alone but does settle. This may need to be re-established in her new home. She eventually would love to share a bed with her humans. Dahlia is a fantastic co-pilot in the car and is not anxious during rides. She has a great appetite and eats at a moderate pace, and we encourage separate eating spaces for multi-dog homes.
