Meet Murphy!
Murphy is a goofy and affectionate two-year-old Labrador Retriever mix who weighs about 70 pounds. His floppy ears and golden coat are just the beginning of his charm! Murphy greets life with playful energy and happy tail wags, often "talking" with little playful noises that make it seem like he's trying to communicate directly with you. He thrives on simple joys like long walks, breezy car rides, chew toys, and zoomies in the yard. Murphy is a smart pup who responds well to clicker training and is eager to learn more through positive reinforcement. He has already mastered "sit" and "lay down," and is making great progress with "stay" and "recall."
Ideal Home
Murphy is wonderfully social with other dogs and would do best in a home with a confident canine pal to help him feel secure. Doggie daycare is a favorite pastime of his, where he truly comes out of his shell. At home, he enjoys settling into a routine with snuggles and quiet time. He will thrive with a calm, experienced pet parent who understands anxiety and reactivity and can continue supporting his confidence. Slow introductions to new people and surroundings, along with consistency and gentle guidance, will help him blossom. A home without children is recommended.
Ongoing Health
Murphy has some anxiety, especially in unfamiliar or chaotic environments, and has shown fear-based behaviors when feeling trapped. He has had a few incidents where he nipped or bit, stemming from fear rather than aggression. He has shown some skin sensitivities, and chicken has been removed from his diet as a precaution. He also benefits from regular soothing baths to keep his skin comfortable, and with the right care, his golden coat shines brightly.
Training & Support
Murphy is a smart cookie who responds beautifully to clicker training and is eager to continue learning through positive reinforcement. He is working on "stay" and "recall" with promising progress. He can be a little nervous around some men, though he does well with many, and has made great progress through consistent training, patience, and love. He will thrive with a calm, experienced pet parent who understands anxiety and reactivity and can continue supporting his confidence. Slow introductions to new people and surroundings, along with consistency and gentle guidance, will help him blossom.
