Markus- Adoption Pending

Markus and his brother Melvin are a bonded pair of young Beagle brothers who were rescued from an overcrowded shelter in Memphis, TN. Markus, the bigger of the two, is a little more open to pets and cuddles. These sweet boys are timid and a bit feral due to a lack of human kindness in their past, but they are full of hope and ready to learn that people can be kind. They love hot dogs, and food is going to be a huge part of their recovery. Markus and Melvin are doing great in their heartworm slow-kill program and are expected to be negative by the end of the year, with no exercise restrictions! They are good with other dogs and are cat-safe.

Ideal Home

A loving, patient foster home where they can learn that most people are kind. A playful dog buddy would be ideal for Markus to thrive.

Ongoing Health

Markus and Melvin both have heartworms, which they are undergoing a slow-kill treatment for. They also have a grade 2/6 heart murmur, which is hoped to improve over time. They are being treated for Lyme disease as well, and are receiving supplements to help their hearts and bodies heal.

Training & Support

Markus and Melvin are timid and can be feral, needing patience and kindness to build trust. Food, especially hot dogs, is a great motivator for them. They have been observed to squabble with each other but are generally a pair.
