Chester is a 9-month-old Whoodle (Wheaten Terrier/Poodle mix) who came into rescue with his brother, Corkie. Both boys had very little early social experience, and Chester is the more cautious of the two. He learns best by watching another dog and following their lead. Chester is a sweet, observant puppy who is making steady progress and is ready for an adopter who understands shy dogs and can offer consistency, patience, and a quiet environment where he can settle in.
Ideal Home
Chester needs a friendly, gentle resident dog his size or smaller who can show him the ropes and help him continue building confidence. A secure, fully fenced yard is required. He cannot be crated due to his history of being kept in a crate at the breeder, which contributes to his anxiety. When unattended, he should be kept in a safe room with a pet gate instead. Potential adopters must live within 50 miles of Northwest Indiana.
Ongoing Health
Chester is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines.
Training & Support
Chester is currently rejecting leash training and is not yet ready for walks. He is a flight risk when scared, so doors, gates, and transitions must be handled carefully. Experience with shy or unsocialized dogs is a plus.
