Bernie

Meet Bernie! She's a gorgeous 7-year-old Pit mix with a heart full of love and a zest for life, ready to find her FUREVER home. Bernie was rescued after being found as a stray and facing euthanasia. Despite a common skin condition, she approaches every day with joy. She adores bath time, treats, and chew bones, and her food motivation is sure to be a great training tool!

Ideal Home

Bernie would thrive in a home environment where she can receive attentive care for her skin. She loves children and humans and enjoys the company of other dogs, provided introductions are slow and careful. Bernie is highly allergic to cats and cannot be placed in a home with them.

Ongoing Health

Bernie is prone to skin issues and requires a home environment rather than a boarding facility to manage this condition. She is spayed, up-to-date on monthly flea/tick/HW preventative, and receives weekly baths. All Abandoned Pet Project Rescue adoptable pets are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and up to date on age-appropriate vaccines upon adoption.

Training & Support

Bernie is crate trained and can entertain herself with toys and bones when left alone. She walks well on a leash, though she can get excited by squirrels. Her food motivation makes her eager to please, which will be a great asset in her continued training.
