About Brownie

Brownie is a handsome 4-year-old male Labrador mix, weighing about 35 lbs. He was rescued as a puppy after suffering from severe mange, which left him with some scars and patches of white fur. Brownie is an energetic and anxious boy who loves to chew. He's worn his teeth from gnawing on wood, plastic, and anything he can get his paws on. While he knows how to use a crate, he becomes very stressed when confined for too long. He's still learning to walk on a leash and can be anxious during transport.

Despite his challenges, Brownie is incredibly social and affectionate! He adores people, welcomes visitors, and constantly seeks attention, hugs, and pets. He’s a playful pup, though he tends to destroy toys quickly. Brownie also has a funny fascination with water and loves to splash around whenever he can. He spent his first four years in a shelter and has never had a walk. We truly believe that with consistent exercise, structure, patience, and love, he could thrive in a home environment. Brownie is a sweet, friendly dog looking for a committed adopter who is ready to help him channel his energy and give him the wonderful life he deserves.

Ideal Home

Brownie would do best in a home with a securely fenced backyard and an active family that enjoys outdoor activities. He needs a family with the intention of truly rescuing him and understanding the needs of street animals, including their potential behaviors that require protection and education. An adopter with experience in dog behavior and training, or a willingness to hire a professional trainer, is highly recommended to help this intelligent dog reach his full potential. High tolerance and patience are essential for this wonderfully imperfect pup!

Ongoing Health

Brownie was rescued as a puppy with severe mange, which has resulted in some scarring and patches of white fur. He has undergone a comprehensive health protocol including: spay/neuter certificate, 2 DHPPI vaccines, rabies vaccine, Bordetella vaccine, deworming, microchipping, a 4DX test and certificate, a negative heartworm test certificate, and monthly Nexgard Spectra preventive protection (fleas, ticks, and heartworm). He also received a health certificate and has a vaccines booklet.

Training & Support

Brownie is not yet house-trained and requires significant patience and understanding. He needs an adopter willing to help him learn appropriate chewing behaviors and manage his anxiety around confinement and transport. Consistent training and positive reinforcement will be key to his success.
