Honey is a beautiful female dog who is 2.5 years old and weighs 50 pounds. She is spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped. Honey was rescued in the fall of 2023 after living on the streets by herself for over a year. During that time, she faced many hardships, including being hit by cars multiple times and having at least two litters of puppies as a young dog. Upon rescue, she was found to have a broken hip and heartworms, but thanks to necessary medical care, including hip surgery and heartworm treatment, she has now fully recovered.
Honey is looking for a very special, patient, and kind adopter who will help her continue to blossom and offer her grace as she adjusts to life off the streets. She can get overwhelmed by new changes, people, and environments, so a patient approach is key. Once Honey settles in and trusts her people, her heart for them is immense, and she is incredibly loyal. You'll see her personality shine through in moments of pride and excitement, like bunny hops and happy "talking" at dinner time. She is potty trained, has low to medium energy, is easy on a leash, and rides calmly in a car. She also does well in a crate, though she may have a few initial "oopsie" moments.
Ideal Home
Honey is not a match for a home with young children due to her nervousness around loud noises and fast movements. She can be the only dog in the home or live with other dogs, as long as they are low-key and keep to themselves, as she prefers co-existing over playing. While she doesn't require a fenced yard, she is a flight risk, and precautions must be taken to ensure her safety, regardless of fencing.
Ongoing Health
Honey has successfully completed heartworm treatment and hip surgery.
Training & Support
Honey is fully potty trained. She may have an "oopsie" moment when initially introduced to her crate but adjusts quickly. She is a flight risk, and precautions will be discussed to keep her safe.
