About Soy
Soy is a 10-month-old puppy with a cautious heart and a velcro soul; once she decides you're safe, she never leaves your side! She was rescued from the overcrowded Incheon Municipal Shelter in South Korea after being placed at risk of euthanasia. Before entering foster care, she recovered from parvovirus and a skin infection. Today, she is healthy, bouncy, and ready to find her forever family.
Ideal Home
Soy would be happiest in a home with at least one friendly, playful dog, as she relies heavily on canine companionship and experiences anxiety when left alone without another dog. If she goes to a single-dog home, her adopter should be home most of the day, especially during the adjustment period, and prepared to work patiently on separation anxiety. Soy needs adopters who understand shy or cautious dogs and will let her approach at her own pace. She is not the right fit for a home that expects immediate warmth, leaves her alone for long stretches without a dog companion, or is unfamiliar with reading dog body language. Because Soy is very affectionate and likes to stay close to her people, she may not be the best match for a resident dog who is highly jealous or uncomfortable sharing attention. Calm, patient, dog-savvy children would be best.
Ongoing Health
Soy is currently healthy. She previously had parvovirus and a skin infection, both of which have been fully treated and resolved. One of her ears tends to build up wax and benefits from occasional cleaning. She scratches frequently, possibly due to seasonal dryness, though no confirmed allergies have been identified. She receives NexGard on the 3rd of each month for parasite prevention and eats Royal Canin Medium Puppy food. Portion control and weight monitoring will be important as she loves food and eats quickly.
Training & Support
Soy is still a puppy and enjoys chewing, so puppy-proofing and providing appropriate chew toys are recommended. Furniture chewing has stopped, but be mindful of peeling wallpaper edges. She is in progress with crate training. Potty training is going well; she uses indoor pads reliably and is working toward outdoor-only potty training, having been successful outdoors in a home with yard access. She can startle at sudden loud noises or fast movements outdoors, so secure leash handling is important. Tooth brushing is a work in progress, though she likes toothpaste. She does best on car rides when she can rest her face against something supportive. When left alone, she becomes anxious and barks in a bark-rest-bark pattern, but is calm when left with another dog.
Application Details:
- Applications start by contacting us through Wags.
- An adoption fee of $650 covers her spay surgery, vaccinations, microchip, veterinary exam, official health certificate, pre-departure veterinary care, and international transportation.
- All approved adopters begin with a two-week trial and monitoring period.
Transporation
Soy is currently in South Korea and can fly to the U.S. with a flight volunteer once matched with a family.
