Fiona #7 is a three-year-old Lab mix who weighs about 55 lbs. She's been a delight in her foster home, adapting well to living with four other dogs after thoughtful introductions. Fiona is friendly to everyone she meets and loves being around people. She knows commands like "sit" and "lay down," and her recall is exceptional – she'll come running on the first call when in the yard! She enjoys playing with toys and bones, often entertaining herself by tossing them in the air and chasing them. Fiona is house-trained and has excellent bladder control. She's a fellow morning person (or rather, sleep-in enthusiast!) and shares a dislike for squirrels in the yard. Fiona also enjoys long walks. She doesn't need a crate as she's well-behaved in the house and not destructive. She has great manners around food and walks nicely on a Halti collar.
Ideal Home
Fiona would thrive in a home with a fenced-in yard (not see-through) where she can safely play. A family committed to taking her on at least one walk a day for continued training will be ideal. She is not a dog suited for dog parks, dog-friendly breweries, or frequent socialization with neighborhood dogs. However, she has successfully attended doggie daycare at an experienced facility that groups dogs by personality.
Ongoing Health
Fiona is a healthy girl with no specific health conditions noted.
Training & Support
While Fiona lives harmoniously with other dogs in her foster home, she does react negatively and loudly to dogs she encounters on a leash, which can make a poor first impression. She will also bark at dogs seen through house or car windows. These leash reactivity and window barking behaviors will require an experienced dog owner willing to continue her training. Her foster family can share techniques they use to manage these situations.
