Penny is a gorgeous Rhodesian Ridgeback mix weighing approximately 50 lbs and is the sweetest girl! She is about 1 year and 3 months old and was found in January 2026 in a cemetery with over a dozen other dogs, fending for herself. This awesome girl absolutely loves other dogs, big and small, and even enjoys playing gently with pigs! While a little shy at first, she quickly warms up to become a loyal best friend. Penny is very active and loves to romp and play, especially with other dogs and toys for tug-of-war. She is most happy when she has canine companions to share her energy with. She is described as an "escape artist" who enjoys exploring but is also good-natured, returning to the front door when her adventures are done.
Ideal Home
Penny would thrive in an active home that wants a dog to go on adventures with. She'd love a best friend who will be her shadow. A home with another active dog to play with and help tire each other out is strongly recommended, or consistent doggy friends, doggy parks, or doggy daycare.
Ongoing Health
Penny is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations, flea/tick prevention, and dewormer. She is heartworm positive and has received a 30-day course of antibiotics. She needs to stay on heartworm prevention for 12-16 months and be retested afterward. She will receive a clean bill of health from a licensed veterinarian prior to transport.
Training & Support
Penny is MOSTLY house-trained and will need consistency to master it 100%. She walks okay on a leash but will need more practice to become perfect. She has great recall once familiar with an area.

Transportation
Penny is currently located in a sanctuary in South Texas, along the Texas/Mexico border. We do not adopt animals out in Texas. We adopt to the Central US and the East Coast. The adoption fee includes transport from Texas to the Northeast. Transport stops include: Albany, NY; Wells, VT and Brattleboro, VT; Nashua, NH; Willington, CT, Stamford, CT, and Dayville, CT; Steubenville, OH, Cincinnati, OH, and Grove City, OH; Ridgefield, NJ and Mt Laurel, NJ; Emmitsburg, MD and Elkton, MD; and Falls Church, VA and Glenn Allen, VA. Transport occurs every 2-3 weeks.
