Dixie is a 1-year-old, 44-pound Hound/Labrador Retriever mix with a soft soul and a quiet, thoughtful way of moving through the world. She was rescued from a severe hoarding situation where she survived between an abandoned, condemned home and the outdoors. Dixie is now safe, well cared for, and looking for her forever family.
At first, Dixie is more of an observer than a participant, but she is not distant. With patience, a calm voice, and a few treats, her personality starts to shine through in small, meaningful ways like gentle curiosity, slow tail wags, and the choice to inch closer when she feels ready. Once she trusts you, Dixie becomes a steady and loyal companion. She walks beautifully on leash and carries a calm, grounding presence wherever she goes. Her floppy ears are incredibly soft and comforting, the kind you cannot help but pet. Her expressive eyes give the feeling that she is truly taking you in and remembering the people who are kind to her.
Dixie's confidence grows with each passing day. After she chooses you, she will become your shadow and would love to keep her family company. Dixie cannot wait to find her forever family.
