Meet Shelby, a 6-month-old spayed female Shepherd/Hound/Terrier mix who currently weighs 39 pounds and is expected to be a large size when fully grown. Shelby is a happy, goofy, and affectionate puppy with a playful spirit. She was rescued from a shelter in Texas with her mom and sister and has since thrived in her foster home. Shelby is curious, eager to learn, and deeply connected to her people, making everyday moments special.
Ideal Home
Shelby would thrive in an active home that enjoys a dog's companionship and attention. She wants to be included in family adventures, whether it's hiking, walking, playing in the yard, or simply spending time together. A family that is patient with puppy training and wants an affectionate member would be a great fit. She enjoys the company of other dogs and may benefit from having a canine companion, but can also succeed as an only dog if her social and activity needs are met.
Ongoing Health
Shelby is up-to-date on vaccinations and has been spayed.
Training & Support
Shelby is still a puppy and requires continued basic training. She has learned to sit, walks nicely on a harness, and plays appropriately with toys and bones. She is in the process of house training and has made significant progress, reliably pottying outside. She sleeps through the night in her crate and tolerates it, but prefers to be near her people and other dogs. Shelby may bark briefly when crated during the day but will settle, especially when left alone. She should not be crated excessively as she is social and happiest when included in daily life. Shelby would benefit from a slow feeder due to her enthusiastic eating habits. While she has shown mild growling with her sister, it appears to be puppy competition for attention rather than true resource guarding.
