Duke

“Duke” is a friendly, energetic, and playful 6-year-old, approximately 80-pound, neutered male German Shepherd. He absolutely loves meeting new people and enjoys children, though he may be a bit too rambunctious for very young toddlers. Duke also gets along well with other dogs, especially smaller ones, and currently lives with two. However, he is not a fan of cats.

Duke is house-trained, but he is accustomed to living primarily outdoors and sleeps outside. He can become restless if kept inside for extended periods, though he may adjust well to being an indoor dog with a new family. He enjoys playing fetch and keep-away, but water isn't his favorite.

Duke was adopted by his person four years ago from the Stockton shelter. He is now seeking a new home because his grandmother, who recently had hip surgery, has moved in, and his person is concerned about Duke potentially injuring her with his exuberance.

Ideal Home

Duke would thrive in a home where he can spend time outdoors. He is not suitable for a home with cats.

Ongoing Health

Duke is in good health, up-to-date on core vaccinations, and microchipped.

Training & Support

Duke is fine on leash once he settles down after an initial period of eager pulling. He has good recall when there are no distractions. He has not received any formal obedience training and can be somewhat restless in vehicles, as he doesn't have much experience with car rides.
