SMOKEY

Meet Smokey! This handsome young fellow is a bundle of energy and a quick learner with a heart of gold. He's a dream in his crate, happily settling in with a bone or a frozen treat puzzle. Smokey walks like a pro on leash and is generally a fan of meeting other dogs, though he's still figuring out the finer points of doggy social etiquette. He's house-trained and incredibly motivated by treats, making him eager to learn new things. In just a short time with his foster, he's already picked up "Place," "Touch," and "Stay"! Smokey also enjoys outdoor adventures and would make a fantastic jogging partner. He's comfortable in various settings, from breweries to other events, and seems to respond particularly well to a deeper vocal tone from men.

Ideal Home

Smokey needs to be the only dog in the household. He is not suited for a home with small children due to his tendency to get mouthy when over-stimulated. He needs experienced dog owners who can help him refine his social skills and manage his puppy energy.

Ongoing Health

Smokey is a healthy young dog with no known ongoing health conditions.

Training & Support

Smokey is house and crate trained and learns new commands very quickly. However, he is still working on impulse control and dog social skills. When over-stimulated, he can become mouthy and may grab things that aren't chew toys (like pillows, shoes, or even arms). While he's easily redirected, this behavior requires consistent training from experienced owners. He has a lot of energy and benefits from positive reinforcement and clear commands.
