Maya is a loving, intelligent, and playful girl who is about 1 year old and weighs around 30 lbs. She's a mix of Labrador and Creole and was rescued in March 2024. Maya is energetic and sociable with everyone, including children and other dogs. She enjoys playing, going for walks, and running, and absolutely adores affection. While she can be a little shy when meeting new people, she quickly melts into your arms once she feels comfortable. She's also dog and cat friendly, docile, loyal, and brings a lot of joy and fun to any home. Maya is crate and leash trained. She was found in a field with her six siblings and has received extensive medical care, including spaying, vaccinations, deworming, microchipping, and preventative treatments for fleas, ticks, and heartworm.
Ideal Home
Maya would thrive in a home with an active family that enjoys outdoor activities and has a fenced backyard. A home with experience in dog behavior and training, along with high tolerance and patience for a rescued animal, would be ideal. Maya's rescuers understand that rescued dogs may have been traumatized and need an adjustment period, so a patient and understanding environment is a must.
Ongoing Health
Maya has received a comprehensive health protocol. This includes being spayed, receiving DHPPI and Rabies vaccinations, Bordetella vaccination, deworming, and microchipping. She has also tested negative for heartworm and has a 4DX test certificate. She is on monthly Nexgard Spectra for flea, tick, and heartworm prevention and has a health certificate and vaccination booklet.
Training & Support
Maya is crate and leash trained. It's important to note that rescued dogs may not be house-trained and will require patience and ongoing education. Maya's rescuers emphasize that house-training every rescued pet is challenging due to the sheer number of animals they care for.
