About Millie

Millie is a very special English Cream Golden Retriever looking for a home that understands her unique needs. She was found as a stray in the woods, unsocialized and having survived on her own for months, including through hurricanes. Thankfully, she was eventually rescued and has since completed heartworm treatment and been spayed.

Millie absolutely adores other dogs and thrives in their company. She is playful, house-trained, crate-trained, submissive, and very food-motivated. However, she is still very fearful of humans and can panic with loud noises or when approached. She needs a patient and experienced owner who can provide her with the security and understanding she deserves.

Ideal Home

Millie needs a home with at least two large, playful dogs, as she is most comfortable in a pack. A secure, 6-foot fenced yard is a must, as she can jump shorter fences. She would likely be friendly towards cats. This home should have no children or frequently visiting children. The most crucial requirement is an owner who is extremely cautious about leash safety, never allowing Millie off-leash and ensuring she never escapes outdoors. She is not suitable for first-time dog owners.

Ongoing Health

Millie has successfully completed her heartworm treatment and is now heartworm negative. She has been spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped.

Training & Support

Millie is house-trained and crate-trained. She is very submissive and food-motivated, which can be leveraged for training. Her primary need is for owners who understand her fear of humans and can provide a safe, predictable environment without forcing interactions.
