Meet Poppy: A Flower Waiting to Bloom
Like the poppy flower, Poppy is a symbol of hope, resilience, peace, and new beginnings. Before coming into foster care, Poppy was a stray who came to the shelter with a friend. No one knows how long she lived without a family, but one thing is certain—she’s never truly known what it feels like to belong. Now, at around four years old, she’s discovering all the little joys of being loved, and watching her bloom has been nothing short of magical. Poppy has the gentlest soul. She’s kind, tender-hearted, and happiest right beside her person—a true Velcro dog who simply wants to love and be loved. She explores the world with her nose, taking in every new scent with quiet curiosity, while learning that the world isn’t as scary as she once thought. Poppy is learning to new sounds like what a TV is or music playing. She adores other dogs, and with slow, thoughtful introductions, beautiful friendships blossom. Her foster siblings have become her teachers, showing her what it means to be safe, confident, and part of a family.
Ideal Home
Poppy would thrive in a home where she can be close to her people. She loves having canine companions, so a home with a friendly, resident dog would be a bonus!

Training & Support
Every day brings another milestone. Poppy is learning crate training and settles to sleep through the night. She’s working on “shake”, “lay down,” and is beginning to discover that dog toys are actually meant to be fun! She quickly figured out the doggy door, has had no accidents in the house, and loves carrying around and chewing on her favorite chew toys.
