Gina is an 8-month-old, 56lb spayed female Belgian Malinois mix who was found as a tiny puppy abandoned in a cardboard box by the side of a busy road. Despite her rough start, she's now in a loving foster home and ready to find her forever family! Gina is a playful pup who loves to play tug-of-war with her smaller foster siblings. She can be a little shy around dogs she doesn't know, especially larger ones, due to a past negative experience. Slow introductions will be key for her to build confidence. She lives happily with small dogs under 15lbs and large dogs over 75lbs, but would do best in a cat-free home as she's a bit too enthusiastic about neighborhood kitties. Gina enjoys human attention and is a toy collector, often gathering them in her bed. She's learned to play fetch and can entertain herself.
Ideal Home
Gina would thrive in an active home with someone who will play with her daily. She's looking for a family that understands how to raise a large, active pup into a well-mannered adult and is committed to providing regular socialization, positive training, and plenty of outlets for exercise, play, and enrichment. Due to her excitable nature and lack of awareness of her size, a home with older, dog-savvy children (10+) is recommended. She would also do well with a couple or someone living alone, and another dog in the home would be beneficial to keep her company and help her burn off energy.
Ongoing Health
No specific ongoing health conditions are mentioned.
Training & Support
Gina is crate trained and doing well with house training, with no accidents when crated for up to 8 hours. She walks nicely on a leash and shows no signs of separation anxiety. She does prefer to eat her treats alone and is in a "puppy velociraptor stage," so she will need guidance on appropriate chew toys.
