Dex is a 1.5-year-old American Staffordshire Terrier mix who is smart, loyal, and affectionate. He bonds deeply with his people and is playful, intuitive, and happiest when he feels included and secure. Dex loves to play, especially tug of war and games of catch, and he plays well with dogs of all sizes. He is patient, respectful, and thoughtful in his interactions, immediately backing off if another dog isn't interested in playing. On leash, Dex is excellent; he walks calmly without pulling and shows no reactivity. He is intelligent, eager to learn, and responds well to training, enjoying structure and having a job to do. Dex is fully house-trained and crate-trained, going right into his crate when asked and sleeping through the night. He also does well when left out in the house without destructive behaviors once his energy needs are met.
Ideal Home
Dex would thrive in a home with adult adopters who enjoy walks and outdoor time. He is not suitable for a home with cats or small animals due to a strong prey drive. While he has been around children, he takes time to warm up and may growl when unsure, so he would do best in an adult-only home or with dog-savvy teens who understand boundaries.
Ongoing Health
Dex has no specific health conditions mentioned.
Training & Support
Dex is eager to learn and responds well to training. He is house-trained and crate-trained. While he generally does well, he may growl when unsure in new situations, so continued positive reinforcement and understanding his cues will be beneficial.
