Meet Yuki, a sweet 2-year-old, 19-pound mixed Rat Terrier with a gentle spirit, adorable underbite, and a big heart. After facing euthanasia at a shelter in Palm Beach, Florida, he was given a second chance and is ready to blossom in a patient, loving home.

Yuki can be shy with new people and unfamiliar situations, especially in a crate or kennel, but once he feels safe, his playful, affectionate, loyal personality shines. He enjoys leisurely walks, exploring by scent, and staying close to his people. Yuki gets along well with other dogs, and a calm canine companion may help build his confidence.

Ideal Home

Yuki would do best with a patient family willing to let him gain confidence at his own pace. He is reported to do well with children under 8.

Ongoing Health

Yuki is vaccinated and neutered. No medical conditions were reported.

Training & Support

Yuki is house-trained. He does not enjoy being in a crate or kennel and may be shy in unfamiliar situations.

If Yuki finds a treasured item such as a food wrapper or bone, he may become defensive if someone tries to take it away. His family should use positive reinforcement and trade techniques rather than removing items by force, with continued patience, management, and training.
