About Annie

Annie is a sweet, spunky 3-4 month old Shih Tzu and poodle mix pup weighing 7 lbs. She's estimated to be around 20 lbs when fully grown. Annie is affectionate, loving, and adores being doted on by her humans. She's curious by nature and always the first to investigate new toys, noises, and people. She's a social butterfly that loves meeting new people and dog friends. Her friendly and social nature makes her a perfect pup for an active family that enjoys having their fur-baby involved in their everyday life. Her laid-back demeanor is perfect for a family that wants a pup that can adapt easily to different environments and enjoys going on fun family adventures. Whether playing with other dogs in her foster home, cuddling with her foster mom, or tossing toys around the yard, Annie is going to have a good time. She has a balanced personality, being active and playful when it's time for fun, but also laid-back and mellow when it's time to relax. She's also great at entertaining herself, tossing toys or napping in her bed. Annie would fit beautifully into a variety of homes, whether active or cozy, as long as she's with the people she loves.

Ideal Home

Annie has a medium energy level with short bursts of puppy energy. She enjoys mental stimulation games, exploring the backyard, and playing with toys. She loves to play with other dogs and would be happy in a home with another playful dog or as the center of attention. If she's the only dog, frequent playdates or doggy daycare are recommended. Annie would do well with kids of all ages, especially older children experienced with smaller breeds who know how to handle her carefully, as she can be wiggly when excited. She is dog and cat-friendly, but would do best with dog-friendly cats that have lived with dogs before. She would love a home with a fenced yard and enjoys outings like neighborhood walks and longer nature trails. She would love a family that works from home or has a hybrid schedule, but she cannot go more than 8 hours without playtime and potty breaks, so a dog sitter or daycare is recommended if her humans work outside the home. Public dog parks are not recommended.

Ongoing Health

Annie is starting to show signs of teething, so her humans will need to ensure she doesn't chew on human toys.

Training & Support

Annie is kennel trained and potty trained. She sleeps in her kennel at night with no fuss and naps in it during the day with the door open. She is starting leash training and will need additional practice to perfect her skills. She alerts her foster family when she needs to go outside by circling at the back door. It is recommended to use a doggy doorbell to help her learn to notify you. She needs a consistent schedule and to be taken out every few hours initially.
