Mickie is a sweet, intelligent, and social Chihuahua mix who is approximately 2 years and 7 months old and weighs 18.7 lbs. He enjoys being around people and other dogs and, while a little reserved at first, quickly blossoms into an affectionate companion. Mickie loves to run, play, go for walks, and spend quality time with his humans. He is obedient, playful, and eager to bond, making him a potentially loyal member of an adoptive family. Mickie sleeps in his crate and does well with a routine.
Ideal Home
Mickie would thrive in a home with a fenced backyard and an active family that enjoys outdoor activities. He needs a family with a genuine intention to rescue a dog, understanding the needs of street animals for protection and education. Families with experience in dog behavior and training, or a willingness to hire a trainer, are highly preferred. Mickie also requires a high tolerance and patience, especially since he is not house-trained.
Ongoing Health
Mickie has undergone a comprehensive health protocol including a spay/neuter certificate, DHPPI vaccines, rabies vaccine, Bordetella vaccine, deworming, microchipping, a 4DX test and certificate, a negative heartworm test certificate, and monthly preventive protection with Nexgard Spectra. He also has a health certificate and vaccine booklet. It's important to understand that rescued dogs may have experienced trauma and require an adjustment period, patience, and understanding to build trust.
Training & Support
Mickie is not house-trained, and this is a significant aspect of his care. Prospective adopters must have the patience and willingness to work on this. His guardians are committed to the emotional rehabilitation of rescued pets, and Mickie will need a home that can provide ongoing support and education to help him overcome any past experiences and thrive.

- If approved, you'll sign the adoption contract and pay the adoption fee.
Transporation
Mickie is currently being fostered in Saltillo, Mexico, and is ready to travel to the East Coast on a cross-country trip. Door-to-door delivery is available through a partnered transport company. Scheduled trips occur 3-4 times a year with a minimum of 15-20 adoptions per trip. The transport fee is $400 USD and covers the journey from Mexico to your home. Regular updates with photos and videos will be provided throughout the journey.
