About Babe *special needs*

Meet Babe! And yes, the name fits.

Babe came to us after her care needs became too much for her previous owner to manage. In March 2025 she was diagnosed with IVDD and quickly lost the use of her hind legs. Her previous owner did everything they could for her, including surgery in hopes of helping her regain mobility, but unfortunately it wasn't successful.

Now here's the important part: Babe does not spend a single second feeling sorry for herself. Actually, if you met her without knowing her story, you'd probably just think, "wow this dog is obsessed with people and snacks." Babe absolutely loves attention. She loves being cuddled, loved on, doted on, and included in whatever is happening. She also takes treats very seriously and considers herself somewhat of a snack professional. Other dogs? Loves them. Human friends? Loves them too. She is curious, social, and has this really happy little energy about her that pulls people in.

While she has very limited use of her hind legs and can't walk normally, she gets around just fine using her front legs, and when she gets into her wheelchair it's game over. Suddenly she's speeding around, cruising from place to place, and acting like she has somewhere very important to be!

Ideal Home

Babe is looking for a home with someone around more often than not, and ideally someone with special needs dog experience or someone excited and willing to learn.

Ongoing Health

Babe was diagnosed with IVDD and has limited use of her hind legs. She needs her bladder expressed several times a day because she cannot fully eliminate on her own.

Training & Support

While bladder expression may sound intimidating, it becomes routine quickly. Our staff is happy to teach and support her future adopter every step of the way.
