Dahlia is a sweet, silly, snuggly, fun, and lovely 11-month-old "itty bitty labbie pittie" who is as delicate and beautiful as the flower she's named after. She currently weighs 35 pounds and is expected to reach a maximum of 40-45 pounds. Dahlia loves to start her day with a potty break and some zoomies, followed by a brisk walk where her leash skills are almost perfect (unless a squirrel is spotted!). She enjoys adventures on trails and in parks, meeting new friends, and is a natural swimmer, making her an ideal camping companion. Dahlia is a dog-social butterfly who gets along beautifully with the four other dogs in her foster home. While shy with new people, she warms up quickly and is incredibly sweet.
Ideal Home
Dahlia would thrive in an active home that can provide plenty of exercise, ideally with another playful dog. She would also be happy with regular visits to doggy daycare if her people work outside the home full-time. While she could do well in a dog-friendly apartment or condo, it's important to note that she may cry in her crate when initially left alone, which could be a consideration for homes with shared walls. She has not been tested with cats but is expected to do well with respectful children 8 years and older.
Ongoing Health
Dahlia is up to date on all vetting, including DAPP with booster, Bordetella, Rabies vaccine, multiple broad-spectrum deworming treatments, flea prevention, and a 12-month heartworm preventative injection. She has also had a heartworm test.
Training & Support
Dahlia is crate and house-trained. When left alone, she may cry in her crate initially but will eventually settle. This is a behavior that will need to be re-established in her new home. She is working on learning how small dogs like to assert their boundaries.
