Chance

Chance is a 4-5 year old male Basenji mix who embodies resilience and a deep desire for a loving home. He was found as a stray about three years ago, initially fearful and distrustful of humans after a tough life on the streets. Through dedicated fostering, Chance has made incredible strides, transforming from a scared and wary dog into a playful and cuddly companion. He now actively seeks affection and enjoys gentle interactions, showing a growing trust that is truly heartwarming. Chance is intelligent, athletic, and possesses a quirky, independent spirit. He is particularly fond of a resident 2-year-old Rottie-mix foster, with whom he enjoys increasingly frequent and enthusiastic play sessions.

Ideal Home

Chance would thrive in a home with other dogs, a securely fenced backyard (he's a talented jumper!), and a family committed to earning his trust through patience and understanding. He is not yet comfortable with leash use and will need a home where he can be crated when unsupervised.

Ongoing Health

Chance has no known ongoing health issues.

Training & Support

Chance is potty and crate trained. While he has made immense progress, he is still learning about trusting touch and requires a patient approach. He can be guarded with his food and prefers to eat in his crate with the door closed and a blanket draped over the top. He demonstrates good recall and responds to his name.
