Little Louie

Little Louie is a resilient and spirited one-year-old pup who was rescued as a newborn after being rejected by his mother and left in the sun. He was nursed back to health and has made incredible progress, but he still needs a loving home that can cater to his unique needs. Louie has a playful spirit and a special way of moving that makes us think he might have some hyena in him – he's quite the jumper! He can be sensitive to his environment and touch, but he's learning to enjoy gentle cuddles.

Ideal Home

Louie has a suspected neurological impairment that affects his sight (depth perception), balance, and spatial awareness. His ideal home will be a safe environment that accommodates his activity level and his need for protection. We suggest he not be placed in a home with a larger dog unless that dog is exceptionally mellow, as Louie enjoys the company of other dogs.

Ongoing Health

Louie sees the vet annually and is considered healthy. He appears to be seizure-free and is no longer on medication.

Training & Support

Louie is paper-trained, though he occasionally misses due to his visual impairment. He regularly uses the bathroom outside and is crate-trained, sleeping soundly in his crate at night. He has overcome significant challenges, such as learning to navigate stairs, which he now does with confidence!
