Tucker - FOSTER OR ADOPT

Tucker is a delightful 4-year-old, 51 lb Snow Lab mix who is looking for a loving foster home, or a forever family to foster him with the intention to adopt. He arrived in our care on May 24th after being found as a stray and transferred from an overcrowded shelter in another state. Tucker is a happy-go-lucky, loving dog with a sweet, eager-to-please demeanor. He enjoys the company of other dogs, is great with cats, and has shown himself to be gentle and sweet with children he's encountered. Tucker is friendly, outgoing, and a considerate house guest.

Ideal Home

Tucker would love someone who is home most of the time. He enjoys going for walks and exploring the world with his nose, but he is not suited for jogging or long-distance hiking. He would benefit from a home with fewer stairs to climb and minimal crating, as he is still regaining muscle mass from past injuries. Tucker will chase after rabbits, and he can catch them, so keep that in mind.

Ongoing Health

Tucker's past includes an injury from being hit by a vehicle, resulting in a broken ankle and hip. While these injuries have healed well on their own, he may occasionally show a slight limp. He has been examined by a vet, and no further surgeries are recommended. Tucker was also found to be heartworm positive and has completed treatment, which included a month of rest. He is neutered and up-to-date on distemper, rabies, and bordetella vaccinations.

Training & Support

Tucker has not had formal training but is a quick learner, already mastering "leave it" and "no speak." He is currently working on "off" as he has a tendency to counter surf. He is house-trained and only barks to alert when someone approaches the porch or lingers in the yard, not as a nuisance barker. Tucker would be a great candidate for obedience training, as he learns fast and wants to please. He may chew on inappropriate items, but with consistent guidance, he will learn. Continued therapy to help him regain muscle mass is recommended.
